Daytime Dreaming

You may call me crazy, you may call me mad but I just couldn't resist the beauty that is Annick Goutal. Its surreal, like you've never smelt anything better all your life, the voluptuous Vanilla and Jasmin, the peach, the pear the musky rose, it covers you like a comforting white fluffy cloud, the beauty that is Songes et Petite Cherie

Eau de Parfum, 50ml around £60.00 - £90.00

Red Carpet Ou La La's #1

I have been wanting to post this dress for ages now and only just rediscovered it while doing the Ready to Wear Spring 2012 report. Yes there are mixed throughts out there as we have all seen on E's Fashion Police (I do love Joan Rivers, she's just too funny) but I just cannot deny that I am completely in love with this dress. The handywork of the lace pattern and the cut off are absolutely to die for and Gwyneth certainly is one who can pull this look off.

Both my thumbs up for this one, what do you think?

Wuhoo or Bohoo?

There is a totally enormous dinosaur in my garden!

Magical Delightful Glittery-ness - For Less

Ou La La! Look what I have found!

It really was only a matter of time and someone just had to copy
these ultimate must have sparklies!

You can now get a slightly different version of the aaaaaamaaazing
Silver Glitter and Black Suede Peep Toe Ankle Boots from Miu Miu
from around £550, for only £80 from yours truly, Topshop.

I'm not really sure what to think of them, as, to be very honest, Miu Miu's original version is simple shoe perfection; The shape - especially the rounded off back, the heel height, they just look so much more skillfully designed AND you get GLITTER AAAND SUEDE IN ONE SHOE!!!! It's shoe heaven!

What you think about them ! Would you Save and go for the Topshop version or Splurge on the original? x

What A Clever Bean This Is

Can you imagine a world without a nice hot cuppa coffee in the early hours? Certainly not me! Admittedly its not for everyone but I would strongly suggest that you might want to reconsider because you don't actually need to like the taste of it to reap all its beautiful benefits.

A little guilty pleasure of mine is to use the warm grounded coffee that's left after brewing the coffee as a really amazing natural body and face scrub! Simply take a little bit, add a few drops of water should it already be too dry and gently rub it all over your face and body! Should there be any of the actual - drinking - coffee left, I like to mix that into the warm water in the tub as this seems to really do the trick with my skin and hair and leave it ultra smooth and soft.
As you can imagine, especially in the morning, the strong coffee smell will take the rest of any sleepiness that's left in you right out and you'll feel fresh and ready to fight the day!

ATTENTION I do recommend doing this only when you are taking a bath as you will very likely end up with a huuuge mess around the house... And also apply the grounded coffee to exfoliate your skin only at the end of the bathing session as otherwise it will all end up in your hair and is a nightmare to get out (I know what I´m talking about....) !

All welled up

Admittably it was a bit silly of me to bring a piece on winter fashion when in fact actually we have to fight ourselves through the many days of rain and dull greyness before we can even think of building snowwomen, hot chocolate and ice skating... Duh. Please excuse me!

So I dont know how you think about wellies but I love them! Ever since I've been a little munchkin I've been wearing wellies. Pairing them with my favourite lace pluesch dress and a pair of tights, running through the forest or doing garden work, getting everything ruined. Yeah, thats me. I just never got why you have to look dull when you do things like that... ( I was about 7 years old....)

I just can't get enough of them and I personally think they can look really great - not just thinking festivalwise. What do you think of these lovelies?

Its that time of the year again...

For some of us it is the favourite time of the year; Cosied up in front of the fire, , hot chocolate, wandering through the first snow and ice skating at night... You have to admit, even if you are a hard core sun shine devotee, it does sound very alluring!

I thought I'd share some of my favourite items to accompany us for the next couple of months:

KG Kurt Geiger Suki Women Shoes Boots Ankle Mid Heel  Reiss Harlem Scarves

By Malene Birger | Leather Shoulder Wool Mackintosh by By Malene Birger

My favourite piece has got to be this amazing wooly coat by By Marlene Birger.

Yes, it is a little bit on the pricey site but it certainly is an investment worth the extra couple of pounds! It will it keep you extra warm in the upcoming colder months and you'll be super trendy with the striking leather features over the shoulders and on the sleeves.

The great cut and colour make it a great example of a timeless piece of fashion that you can wear year after year and will always look a 100% gorgeous - guaranteed!

Hypnotise me!

I must admit I seem to have gone into somewhat of a perfume frenzy and just added another little bottle to my drastically growing and growing arsenal of fragrances. It's nothing new and I actually went into the shop having an all together different perfume on my mind but I simply could not resist trying such a pretty little bottle. My new perfume of choice is Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior!

I have never had a perfume from Dior before and was actually very surprised with this purchase as I usually go for light, fruity scents compared to the heavy, headache causing versions. Also I clearly remember trying this a couple of years ago and didn't like it at all. Now on the other hand it is exactly what I was looking for. I love the vanilla combined with tuberose and a hint of coconut, its heavy but it's a sexy, warm and comforting heavy. Perfect for the day but just as good for a crazy night on the town. It's actually that good that I would count it into my All Time Favourite selection of perfumes!
I say thumbs up for Christian Dior!

I'd love to know: If you can chose one perfume for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? x

One Deep Cleanse Please!

If you read my blog frequently you'll know how obsessed I was with the Argan Oil product from Lee Stafford and that when using this product you will need nothing else, not even a good shampoo..?

Yes, well I will have to detract this statement. I've been using it very frequently for a couple of months and my hair started to feel really oily, heavy and rough - almost straw like and it was nothing like when I first started using it. Last week my hairdresser recommended to try a deep cleansing shampoo, like Shampoo Two by Paul Mitchell.  It is especially made to remove any residue and to deep cleanse and brighten up your hair. IT WORKS! It's got a lovely lemony smell and a really soft luscious texture that starts bubbling up as soon as you start massaging it into your hair. You only need to use a teensy bit of shampoo and I can see that my 500ml bottle which was around £11 will last me for quite a while.

I have been using this as my regular shampoo for around one week and I can honestly say my hair is back to it's "old glory". I am still using the Argan Oil and it's now super light, soft and shiny again.

Hooray to Paul Mitchell for saving my hair!

My baby just cares for Me

How I love this song! I absolutely forgot about it for years, probably even a good decade!
My parents would always play old Jazz, Blues and Rock music at the weekends and this one is
especially close to my heart as I got my name from the glorious Nina Simone! I very dearly remember this
song being played ever so often and my little sister and I would run around the house all dressed up in fancy dresses with pumps "borrowed" from my mums closet...

Only yesterday a woman was playing it on the undeground and it literally made my day.

The good old times eh?

Treasure Hunting Volume I ASOS

Look at that two toned collarless leather jacket from ASOS, it's absolutely to die for and I've always
been a big fan of the "oversized boyfriend shirt-dress" look - for those who can actually pull it off.... It's a great basic piece and can be easily styled up or down to whatever suits you most.

You can find those four super gorg looks here at ASOS

I'm going coconuts!

Why spend hundreds of pounds on expensive designer hair care when you can save a fortune opting for these super amazing hair savers!? The Pure Coconut Oil range from Inecto is not only super affordable and will leave your hair with a delicious hint of coconut, super smooth and moisturized!  For around £2.00 each for a 500ml Shampoo and Conditioner bottle it’s not only cheaper than a cup of coffee but is an absolute no-brainer! It’ll last you at least a good month if you like in my case use it every to every other day and won’t leave a big regrettable hole in your wallet!

I don’t think say Boots or Superdrug actually stock this brand, have never seen it there myself so if you do, please let me know but for now you can get them at most Savers shops and at all good pharmacies - not all stock the whole range so keep an eye out at your next shopping trip! x

Some Pressure this is!

Saying that I might be the biggest Swedish House Mafia fan out there would probably be taking it a little far - it's true but I wouldn't exactly go as far as getting their faces tattooed on any part of my body :O BUT anyone that knows me would at some point have seen the big smile that crops up on my face the second you mention or play them... Think whatever you want, I don't care, I loooooooove them and if you're willing to play them for me I will love you too and be eternally grateful! I have been an avid follower for years and never miss a dates anyone of them is in town and thanks to their latest gig at Alexandra Palace I now am a big fan of one Alesso too!

AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING

Friday 1 July 2011

Oh my sweet hand-saviour!

This is one for all us hard working ladies out there. The Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème from Burt’s Bees is of a super sweet smelling and creamy thick texture and leaves not only your hands but any rough area soft and moisturized within seconds.

Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme - Hand Cream - Burt's Bees
For your everyday usage you only need to rub a teensy bit in and you’ll be good to go for hours.
To achieve a deeper penetration what I like to do is apply a little bit more of the crème, just before bedtime, then put on some gloves and leave it to sink in during the night. That way not only my hands but also the cuticles will be well moisturized and I’m ready to fight whatever comes my way the next day J
Another added bonus is that it is a 100% natural, no added synthetic preservatives, nothing artificial and for around £9.00 it’s one bargain that is not to be missed!

Sweater Mania!

I know it's absolutely not appropriate for the hot weather right now and I really don't know where the sudden urge for wearing loose knitted sweaters combined with a cute skirt or short has come from, but all I know is that I LOVE IT. Aren't these just the cutest:

Something of a rather delicate nature....

Something which I would like to bring up, which I know is of quite a delicate nature (literally) is the physical state and health of the models shown in the collections or shows. I know that none of the girls below look like they regularly get stuck in a big plate of Sunday roast with a big chunk of cheese cake for dessert (even better – more for me) but the models from the Nina Ricci collection I found to be a little bit too much on the skinny side of thin. The collection itself is absolutely divine, especially the carmine pink coloured chiffon dress for example, but for heaven’s sake look at the model! I just don’t get it! Which is why I’ve decided against featuring said collection here on my blog.
I absolutely understand and agree with the fact that fashion like this just simply looks much better on thin – normal weight people. It allows the pieces to fit and fall in all the right places like it’s supposed to - as unfortunate as it is for booty- and boobylicious gals like me.  But everything has to have a limit. I can see why as a Model you would give everything to fulfil or maybe please the demands of the big fashion houses and to give in to the constant pressure to keep slim, it’s your job after all, but certainly a good health should always come first? There should be someone or even some sort of organisation looking after the health and rights of the models, a union for example. They have rights just like every one of us – even if it’s just the simple right to enjoy a cookie every now and then. Ok, that is not the point but I don’t see how anyone can find it attractive and would want to have an ill-looking, skinny to the bone model promoting their product.
Don’t you think it’s much more attractive and appropriate to see a naturally glowing and fit person presenting the latest XY campaign rather than seeing a dull skinned, bone-y contour of someone plastered all over town? And FYI by glowing I mean healthy – not photo shopped in postproduction.
It’s about keeping healthy. A fit and toned self surely is much more desirable and something we should all strive for.
I very much agree with the latest developements that in some shows the size zero has been banned and "classed as unhealthy". I would really appreciate to find out about your opinions and thoughts regarding this rather delicate topic. Feel free to comment or message me. x

Resort 2012 Favourites

Ooooooh my god! I am truly and honestly absolutely madly in love with the 2011 Resort collections!
HAVE YOU SEEN IT? Once again there’s a lot of flowery print to be seen, alongside the all-time classic; lace. How I love lace! Lace skirts, tops, dresses, I’ll take it all. Something else which I’m absolutely in love with is a simple clean and clear, well executed cut with tons of nude colours combined with simple black (see 3.1 Phillip Lim or Adam) Anything from leather, silk and sequins is still very much a go-go for the next few seasons. How could anything this good ever go out of fashion?
And in case that’s not for you then how about some truly marvellous Aztec or Animal prints or some earth coloured block colour for your next big purchase (see Giambattista Valli or Proenza Schouler)?
I wanted to share some of my favourites and decided to pick out four looks out of every collection to highlight it on here. Now four is not a lot and considering that one collection usually has around a minimum of 20 looks in it, it really wasn’t the easiest task.  But please, have a look and let me know what you think and what you’re favourites are:

Find the goddess in you!

This is certainly not a new line but I am absolutely in love with the super delicious smell of the Bronze Goddess products by Estee Lauder. With hints of coconut and caramel combined with jasmine, magnolia and orange flower to name just a few, this is the perfect smell to make even the sunniest summer day even sweeter. My favourite is the Body Oil as it doesn't only make you smell like a goddess but with all the glow you will certainly look like one too!
